BMSCE Bangalore Admission 2026: Cutoff, Fees & Placements

B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE) was founded in 1946 by Sri B. M. Sreenivasaiah and describes itself as the first private-sector initiative in engineering education in India (bmsce.ac.in). It is a private, government-aided college: aided by the Government of Karnataka, approved by AICTE, permanently affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and autonomous since 2008 with UGC approval (About BMSCE page). Autonomy means BMSCE frames its own syllabus and conducts its own exams, while the degree is awarded by VTU.

The campus sits on Bull Temple Road in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru 560 019 — an old, central part of the city rather than an out-of-town township. The college's Under-Graduation page lists 13 four-year BE programmes, from Civil, Mechanical and Electrical through Computer Science and newer codes such as AI and Machine Learning and CSE (Data Science).

On accreditation and rankings, stick to what the college itself publishes: NAAC A++ (the homepage cites the third NAAC cycle, while the About page records a CGPA of 3.83 from the second cycle), NBA accreditation stated for its UG and PG programmes, and an NIRF Engineering rank of 83 in 2022 as displayed on its homepage. BMSCE did not appear in the top-100 of the NIRF 2024 or NIRF 2025 Engineering ranking lists (nirfindia.org), so treat that 2022 rank as a dated data point, not a current one.

Three routes lead to a BE seat at BMSCE, and one structural detail matters before anything else: the college operates under two KEA college codes — E003 for its aided branches and E048 for its unaided branches (AY2025-26 BMSCE fee circular). The two codes carry different fees and separate cutoff listings, so treat them as two colleges inside one campus when you fill choices.

• KCET through KEA: Karnataka's CET Cell allots seats round-wise against codes E003 and E048. You pay the KEA-notified fee at allotment and a small college-side fee at admission (figures in the next section).
• COMEDK UGET: the all-India route. For 2026, counselling registration costs ₹2,000 (non-refundable), documents are uploaded and verified online before choice filling opens, a mock allotment precedes the real rounds, and each allotment window requires an online decision and fee payment before you report to the college with the allotment letter and fee receipt (COMEDK Counselling Process Document 2026).
• Management quota: arranged directly with the BMSCE Trust — but the college's own admissions page states that qualifying in CET, COMEDK or JEE (Main) Paper-I is mandatory even for a management seat. There is no exam-free door.

Baseline eligibility for the merit routes, as stated on the college's UG page: 45% aggregate in the qualifying exam with Physics and Mathematics, relaxed to 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates. The fee circular also carries SNQ (supernumerary) and GOI-quota rows, so those channels exist for the candidates they cover.

BMSCE publishes a first-year fee circular every year in its website notifications, and that is the document to trust. The current one is BMSCE/AC/46/2025-26 dated 24-07-2025, covering first-year BE admissions for AY2025-26 across the CET, SNQ, management, GOI and COMEDK quotas. In one line: an aided CET seat cost ₹44,200 at KEA plus ₹18,360 in college, an unaided CET seat ₹1,12,410 plus ₹8,360, and COMEDK admits paid ₹18,970 college-side (AY2025-26, BMSCE fee circular).

Management tuition is published openly: the approved management fee structure for 2026-27 on the college's Under-Graduation page runs branch-wise from ₹4.0 lakh a year for Chemical and ₹6.0 lakh for Civil, Mechanical, EEE and Industrial Engineering, through ₹9.0 lakh for ECE and ₹10–12.5 lakh for the newer CS-family codes, up to ₹15.0 lakh for CSE — with hostel fees explicitly extra. The tuition for a COMEDK seat itself is fixed through COMEDK's fee structure during counselling and is not in the college circular, so confirm it on comedk.org before locking a choice. SC/ST candidates admitted through KEA have tuition of ₹23,590 (aided) or ₹81,800 (unaided) routed through Karnataka's post-matric scholarship portal (AY2025-26 circular).

We do not reprint cutoff tables we have not verified, and we have not opened the current official round-wise matrices — so branch-wise closing ranks are [FIGURE MISSING — AY2026-27] on this page for now. The two sources that matter are official and public: KEA publishes course-wise, category-wise cutoff ranks for every counselling round on its portal, and COMEDK publishes college-wise closing ranks after each allotment round on comedk.org. Read those documents directly, not re-typed copies of them.

Three habits make BMSCE cutoffs legible. First, check both college codes: E003 (aided) and E048 (unaided) are listed separately in KEA's matrix, so a single "BMSCE cutoff" number is meaningless until you know which code it refers to. Second, compare the same round across years — round 1 against round 1 — because closing ranks drift outward in later rounds, and a final-round rank tells you little about where round 1 will close next season. Third, expect the CS-family codes (CSE, AI and ML, the Data Science variants) to be the most competitive, with core branches such as Civil, Mechanical and Chemical closing much later; the management fee ladder in section 3 mirrors that demand ordering almost exactly. Category ranks and SNQ move on their own scales, so always read the column that matches your own category.

The most reliable public placement numbers for BMSCE are the ones it declares in its NIRF data submissions, hosted on its own website. In one line: the UG median salary has stayed in the ₹8.2–9.0 lakh band across the last three declared cohorts, with between 65% and 75% of each graduating class placed (NIRF 2026 submission, BMSCE) (NIRF 2025 submission, BMSCE).

All figures are from the NIRF 2025 submission published on bmsce.ac.in. The same document puts the PG (2-year) median at ₹7,20,000 for 2023-24, with 75 of 133 graduates placed. What the college does not publish in any single verifiable place: branch-wise medians, average and highest packages, or recruiter-wise offer counts — versions of those circulate on aggregator sites, but with no official citable source they stay [FIGURE MISSING] here. Read the table carefully: the median is the median of placed students, not of the whole class, and in 2023-24 around 924 of 1,417 on-time graduates were placed while 100 went on to higher studies.

BMSCE's hostels are run by the BMS Educational Trust (BMSET) and sit on the southern side, adjacent to the campus, with rented annexure buildings 300 m to 1 km away (About BMSET Hostels page). Capacity is real but finite, and the college publishes it unit-wise: the 1977 main hostel takes 150 pre-final and final-year students in single rooms; Unit II houses 125 girls in twin-sharing rooms; Unit III takes 288 boys, twin-sharing; Unit IV houses 117 girls three to a room; the 2012 Phase-1 girls block adds 76 twin-sharing places; and the five rented annexures hold 236 boys between them — 34, 48, 44, 50 and 60 (About BMSET Hostels page). Rooms come with a cot, wardrobe, study table and chair, and the hostel pages list Wi-Fi, reading rooms, gyms, washing machines, solar water heating and indoor games among the amenities. The mess runs a centralised kitchen with separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian sections, and dining halls seating 180 boys and 60 girls at a time.

What the college does not publish is the price: hostel fees are [FIGURE MISSING — AY2026-27]. The official Hostel Fee Structure page carries a single line directing students to the BMSET hostel office on 080-26679928, and the admission fee circular states plainly that hostel fees are extra and not included in the published fee structure. Budget for them separately, and confirm the current amount with the hostel office before you accept a seat.

An honest fit-check, because BMSCE is not the right call for everyone:

• If the management quota is your only route and your budget is tight, do the arithmetic first. CSE is priced at ₹15.0 lakh per year on the approved 2026-27 management fee structure — four years at that rate is ₹60 lakh in tuition alone (our multiplication, before any annual revision, hostel or living costs). An aided CET seat in a less-hyped branch or college can deliver a similar career at a fraction of that debt.
• If guaranteed on-campus housing matters to you, note the unit-wise capacities above: allotment is not automatic, single rooms are reserved for senior years, and some boys are housed in rented annexure buildings off campus.
• If you want a residential township campus, this is the opposite: a compact, historic city campus in Basavanagudi. The location helps with internships and commuting, not with campus sprawl.
• If you are fixated on one specific new-code CS branch through one specific route, verify the seat matrix for that exact code and route before betting on it — per-route seat pools in the newer programmes are small.
• If you are a non-Karnataka candidate expecting state-CET pricing, the realistic doors are COMEDK and the management quota, each with its own fee level — check both before assuming the aided-seat numbers apply to you.

Against the peer colleges we cover, the decision axes are route, cost structure, branch spread and city.

• Route: COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai sit inside Maharashtra's MHT-CET CAP counselling, while BMSCE's COMEDK window is open to all-India candidates by design. A strong COMEDK rank gives an out-of-state student a cleaner path into BMSCE than most non-Maharashtra applicants get into those CAP-run campuses.
• Cost: BMSCE's aided CET seats (code E003) are one of the cheapest ways into a legacy private college — ₹44,200 at KEA plus ₹18,360 college-side for AY2025-26 — while COEP Pune, as a government institute, runs its own low-fee structure. At the other end, BMSCE's ₹15.0 lakh-a-year management CSE fee is a different financial universe; weigh it against simply taking a CAP or COMEDK seat elsewhere.
• Branch spread: PICT Pune and SPIT Mumbai are compact campuses focused on the CS-and-electronics cluster. BMSCE offers the full spread — Civil, Mechanical, Chemical and Biotechnology alongside the CS family — which matters if you want a fallback branch inside the same college.
• City: recruiter access is a genuine tie-breaker. VIT Pune and PICT Pune students compete in the same Pune hiring pool, while BMSCE students recruit from inside Bengaluru's tech market, with the campus in the middle of the city rather than on its edge.
