1. DYPIU: What It Is and Where It Stands
D Y Patil International University (DYPIU) is a private university established in 2018, recognised by the UGC and the Government of Maharashtra, with a single campus at Sector 29, Akurdi, Pune β 411044 (DYPIU official website). It is not an affiliated college: it awards its own degrees and runs its own admissions, which changes almost everything about how you get a seat here.
Do not confuse it with D Y Patil College of Engineering (DYPCOE), Akurdi β a separate, older engineering college in the same neighbourhood that admits through the state CAP process. Same brand family, same locality, different institution, different route.
Academics sit in schools: Computer Science Engineering & Applications; Engineering, Management & Research; Biosciences and Bioengineering; Design; Commerce and Management; Media and Communication Studies; Humanities and Social Sciences; and Applied Arts & Crafts (DYPIU official website). B.Tech options include Computer Science Engineering β with AI & ML and Cyber Security & Forensics specialisations run in partnership with IBM β plus Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Semiconductor Engineering and Bioengineering.
We could not verify a NAAC grade or an NIRF engineering rank for DYPIU from official sources as of July 2026, so this page claims neither. What is verified: a young university with its own entrance-based admission, located in the Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial belt on Pune's north-western edge.
2. Admission Route: How You Actually Get a Seat
DYPIU does not participate in the State CET Cell's centralised CAP rounds. You deal with the university directly, and its FAQ states entrance tests are compulsory for all programmes.
For B.Tech, the published eligibility is a 10+2 pass with Physics and Mathematics plus one of Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics or IT, with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). Accepted score routes: MHT-CET 2026, JEE 2026, another state or national engineering entrance of 2026, PERA 2026, or the university's own entrance test (DYPIU B.Tech CSE page, AY2026-27). The current cycle's DYPIU Entrance Test is scheduled for 2 August 2026 (DYPIU official website, July 2026).
The process, per the official admission-procedure page:
- Register on the admissions portal with OTP verification and upload eligibility documents.
- Pay the non-refundable application fee of βΉ1,000 (AY2026-27, DYPIU admission procedure page).
- Sit the DYPIU entrance test or personal interview after document verification; offers are merit-based.
- Shortlisted candidates receive a Digital Provisional Admission Offer Letter by email, then complete uploads on the UMS portal, where a unique URN is generated.
- Originals are verified on the first campus visit; an online anti-ragging undertaking is mandatory.
If you cancel, the official refund slabs run from 100% (withdrawal 15+ days before the admission deadline) down to zero (more than 30 days after it) β read the slab dates in your offer letter carefully (DYPIU admissions FAQ, AY2026-27).
3. Fee Structure (What Is Officially Published)
In one line: for Batch 2026, DYPIU's published B.Tech tuition runs from βΉ77,500 to βΉ1,50,000 per semester depending on branch, plus βΉ2,500 registration per semester and a one-time refundable βΉ10,000 caution deposit (DYPIU national admissions fee page).
| B.Tech programme | Tuition per semester (Batch 2026, DYPIU official fee page) |
|---|---|
| CSE (AI & ML, IBM) | βΉ1,50,000 |
| CSE (Cyber Security & Forensics, IBM) | βΉ1,50,000 |
| CSE | βΉ1,30,000 |
| Semiconductor Engineering | βΉ1,17,500 |
| Bioengineering | βΉ1,17,500 |
| Mechanical Engineering | βΉ1,05,000 |
| Civil Engineering | βΉ1,05,000 |
| Chemical Engineering | βΉ77,500 |
Two cautions. First, the fee page itself says semester fees can change on approval of the university's fee committee β so do not multiply a semester fee by eight and treat that as your four-year total; ask the admissions office for the full installment schedule in writing. Second, DYPIU advertises merit scholarships, but confirm the current criteria and how the benefit is disbursed with the admissions office before you pay, and get it on email.
Hostel and mess charges are separate and not published on the fee page β see the hostel section below.
4. Cutoff Trends: How to Read Them
Here is the honest answer: DYPIU has no published cutoffs in the sense that COEP or PICT do. Because seats are not allotted through MHT-CET CAP rounds, there are no State CET Cell allotment lists, no round-wise percentile PDFs, and no category-wise closing ranks for this university. Any website showing you a "DYPIU cutoff table" is presenting something the university itself does not publish β treat it accordingly.
Closing percentile for any branch: [FIGURE MISSING β AY2026-27]. No official source exists for this figure, and we will not invent one.
What replaces a cutoff here is a two-part filter: the eligibility floor (50% in 10+2 PCM-group subjects, 45% reserved category β DYPIU B.Tech CSE page, AY2026-27) and merit in the entrance test or accepted exam score. In practice, seat pressure at a private university shows up as timing, not percentiles: the high-demand programmes β typically the CSE variants β fill earlier in the cycle, and later applicants are offered what remains.
So read "cutoff" for DYPIU as: apply early in the cycle if you want a specific branch, and ask the admissions office directly which programmes still have seats open before you pay the application fee.
5. Placements: What Is Verifiable
Less than you would want. DYPIU has no engineering submission we could find on nirfindia.org as of July 2026, so there is no NIRF-audited median salary to anchor on. Median package: [FIGURE MISSING β no NIRF submission found, July 2026].
The university's own website displays headline claims: a highest package of "28+ LPA" on the homepage and 27 LPA on the B.Tech CSE page, with an average of around 7 LPA, and a recruiter list including Accenture, Amazon, TCS, Infosys, Cognizant and Wipro (DYPIU official website, accessed July 2026). Note two things about these figures: no batch year is attached to them anywhere we could find, and the two pages do not even agree on the highest package. The dedicated placements page names the placement-cell team but publishes no statistics at all.
What the university does not publish: batch size, number of offers, placement percentage, branch-wise medians, or year-labelled reports. For a university whose first B.Tech cohorts graduated only recently, that absence is not surprising β but it means the burden of verification is on you. Before accepting a seat, ask the placement cell in writing for the most recent graduated batch's size, offer count and median by branch. A cell with good numbers will share them; evasion is itself an answer.
6. Hostel & Campus Life
DYPIU provides on-campus hostel accommodation for both boys and girls, and states that enough accommodation is available on campus, with every hostel building covered by 24-hour security (DYPIU admissions FAQ and campus hostel page, accessed July 2026). Rooms are single and multi-bedded with attached washrooms, and residents eat in a common dining hall.
Campus amenities listed on the official hostel page include an indoor sports complex, a gym, a reading room, a TV room and a mini shopping arcade.
Hostel and mess fees: [FIGURE MISSING β AY2026-27]. The university does not publish hostel tariffs on its hostel page or its national-admissions fee page. Request the current room-type-wise tariff and the allotment procedure in writing from admission@dypiu.ac.in before you budget β hostel plus mess at a private Pune university is a meaningful addition on top of tuition, and you should see the actual number, not an estimate.
On location: Akurdi sits in the Pimpri-Chinchwad belt on the PuneβLonavala suburban rail corridor, which keeps the campus connected to Pune city while staying outside its densest traffic. Day-scholar commutes from PCMC areas are realistic; from far south Pune, less so.
7. Who Should NOT Choose DYPIU
An honest fit-check, because a seat you regret is expensive to undo.
If you want a CAP-protected, fee-regulated seat, this is not that. DYPIU is a private university setting its own fees through its own committee, outside the state CAP allotment system. Students who value the transparency of published cutoffs, government fee regulation and centralised counselling rounds should look at CAP institutions instead.
If budget is the binding constraint, the CSE-family tuition of βΉ1,30,000ββΉ1,50,000 per semester (Batch 2026, DYPIU official fee page) plus unpublished hostel costs will total well above what a state-regulated seat costs. Taking a large education loan against a placement record that is not yet publicly documented is a risk you should price consciously.
If you need a long placement track record and a deep alumni network, a university established in 2018 cannot offer one yet, whatever its parent group's history. Recruiter pipelines and alumni referral networks compound over decades; here they are still being built.
If a specific non-CS branch outcome matters to you, note that the university publishes no branch-wise placement data at all β you would be deciding on that branch with no public evidence either way.
None of this makes DYPIU a bad choice. It makes it a specific one: newer institution, direct admission, higher fee, less public data.
8. How DYPIU Compares
The comparison that matters is not rank tables β it is which trade-off you are choosing.
On admission certainty: COEP Pune, VJTI Mumbai and PICT Pune allot seats through MHT-CET CAP with published round-wise cutoffs, so you know before counselling roughly where you stand. DYPIU inverts this β no percentile wall, but also no published cutoff to validate the peer group you are joining. A student with a strong CET/JEE percentile usually has better-documented options; DYPIU's direct route matters most to students whose percentile shuts those doors.
On cost: the state fee-regulation system keeps tuition at institutions like COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai far below private-university levels, and even PICT Pune's regulated fees undercut DYPIU's CSE-family tuition of βΉ1,30,000ββΉ1,50,000 per semester (Batch 2026, DYPIU official fee page). You are paying a premium for access, newer infrastructure and smaller cohorts β decide deliberately whether that premium is worth it for your branch.
On track record: PICT Pune's computer-science placement reputation and COEP Pune's century-old alumni base are exactly the assets a 2018 university cannot yet have. VIT Pune sits in between β an established private brand with years of documented outcomes, admitting largely through CAP.
The short version: if you hold a percentile that opens COEP, VJTI, PICT or VIT Pune, take that door. DYPIU is a considered fallback for the student who wants a Pune engineering seat with modern CSE specialisations and can carry the fee without distress borrowing.
Check affordability before choice filling
Admission route, eligibility and preference order come first. As one decision checkpoint, enter the loan you may need to see the EMI and total interest before locking a college in your counselling choices.
Standard reducing-balance arithmetic on the numbers you enter β your actual rate and moratorium terms depend on the lender. The 40% ceiling is this site's own ROI rule: an EMI above 40% of take-home leaves nothing for rent, food or savings.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need MHT-CET or JEE to get admission to DYPIU Pune?
No single exam is mandatory. DYPIU accepts MHT-CET 2026, JEE 2026, other state or national engineering entrance scores, PERA 2026, or its own entrance test, and its FAQ states an entrance test is compulsory for all programmes. Most applicants either submit an accepted score or sit the DYPIU test. Confirm which route applies to your programme with the admissions office before paying the application fee.
Does DYPIU take part in MHT-CET CAP counselling rounds?
No. As a private university, DYPIU's seats are not allotted through the State CET Cell's centralised CAP rounds. You apply directly on the university's portal, appear for the entrance test or interview, and receive a Digital Provisional Admission Offer Letter by email if shortlisted. There are no CAP freeze or float decisions here β the deadlines that matter are the ones printed in your offer letter.
Which documents are needed for DYPIU admission verification?
Per the university's admissions FAQ: Class 10 and 12 marksheets, graduation documents for PG entry, caste certificate where applicable, entrance exam scorecard, bonafide certificate, and the transfer or migration certificate from your last institution. Documents are uploaded on the UMS portal first, originals are verified on your first campus visit, and the university can cancel admission if eligibility is not confirmed against them.
How does hostel allotment work at DYPIU, and what does it cost?
The university states on-campus hostel accommodation is available for both boys and girls, with 24-hour security, single and multi-bedded rooms with attached washrooms, and a dining hall. Hostel fees are not published on the official hostel or fee pages, so request the current room-wise tariff and allotment procedure in writing from admission@dypiu.ac.in when you accept the seat β availability of room types depends on how early you confirm.
Can I change my branch after first year at DYPIU?
DYPIU does not publish a branch-change policy on its admissions pages, so do not assume one exists. If a specific branch matters to you, get the written rule from the admissions office before paying β whether internal sliding is allowed, on what CGPA basis, and how many seats typically open. Taking a lower-preference branch while hoping to shift later is a gamble without a published policy behind it.
How should I verify the latest DYPIU Pune admission route?
Start with the entrance and counselling route published by the institute or competent authority. Then match the current prospectus, application notice and counselling schedule on the official authority or institute website. A route from an older cycle should not be assumed to remain unchanged.
How should I read the DYPIU Pune cutoff shown on this page?
Read the exam, year, round, category, quota, branch and closing-rank or percentile label together. A cutoff from another category or an earlier round is not a promise of admission in the current cycle.
How do I confirm the complete fee for DYPIU Pune?
Use the current official fee notice and add tuition, development or university charges, deposits, hostel, mess and other compulsory costs. Ask for the payable amount and refund terms in writing before transferring money.
Extended admission FAQs
Do placement figures guarantee an outcome at DYPIU Pune?
No. A highest, average, median or placement-rate figure describes a particular batch and methodology. Prefer a completed, dated report with batch size and branch-level context; it cannot guarantee an individual salary or job.
Can anyone guarantee direct admission to DYPIU Pune?
No counsellor can override eligibility, merit, counselling or the institute's published process. Use only official portals and receipts, and do not pay an individual who promises a confirmed seat outside the documented route.
Which documents should I prepare for DYPIU Pune admission?
Keep the current exam scorecard, identity and nationality proof, Class 10 and 12 records, leaving or transfer certificate, allotment letter and payment receipt. Domicile, category, income, NCL, EWS, migration, gap or NRI documents apply only where the current authority requires them.
What should I compare before placing DYPIU Pune in my preference list?
Compare the exact branch or programme, admission probability, total cost, location, accreditation, published outcomes and a realistic fallback option. Never list a college you would be unable or unwilling to join if allotted.
What if a current DYPIU Pune figure is still unverified?
Treat it as pending rather than filling the gap with an aggregator estimate. Use the previous completed cycle only as historical context and wait for the competent authority or institute to publish the current figure.
How current is the information on this DYPIU Pune page?
The page shows its publication or update date and keeps changing figures tied to an academic year. No page-specific primary source is registered yet, so current figures require direct verification.
How can Future Career Guidance help with DYPIU Pune admission?
We help interpret eligibility, compare realistic options, organise documents and build a preference or application plan. We do not guarantee allotment, bypass merit or collect unofficial cash premiums for seats.
Which source takes priority if two DYPIU Pune figures conflict?
Use the newest document issued by the competent counselling authority, regulator or institute for the same year, quota and programme. A dated primary document takes priority over an undated webpage, brochure summary or third-party listing.
