QUICK OVERVIEW

SIBM Pune admission overview

SIBM Pune admission guidance for 2027: eligibility, entrance route, cutoffs, fees, placements, documents and choice-filling support.

Evidence note: Use the academic year shown beside changing figures and verify the linked official document before payment or choice locking.

1. SIBM Pune: What It Is and Where It Stands

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune was founded in 1978 as the first college set up under the Symbiosis Society, and is today a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), established under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 (SIBM Pune official About page). It is neither an IIM nor a state-affiliated college, and that decides how you get in and what you pay.

It moved in 2007 to its present hill campus at Gram Lavale, Tal Mulshi, Pune 412115, spread over 44.87 acres (SIBM Pune official Infrastructure page). The parent university is re-accredited by NAAC with grade A++ (SIBM Pune official About page).

Programmes published on the official site:

  • Two-year full-time residential MBA across four semesters, specialising in Marketing, Human Resource Management, Finance, Operations and Supply Chain Management, or Data Analytics; intake 240 (SIBM Pune official MBA page)
  • MBA (Innovation and Entrepreneurship), two years, intake 60, launched 2014
  • MBA (Executive), taught at Lavale on weekends for working professionals
  • Global Programme in Enterprise Risk Management

One caution: the desktop and mobile official MBA pages show different intakes, 180 and 240. The NIRF submission records a sanctioned PG two-year intake of 300 for AY2023-24 (NIRF 2025, SIBM Pune submission), consistent with MBA 240 plus I&E 60. Confirm it in the SIU prospectus.

Ranking, source named: rank 11 in Management, score 67.90 (NIRF 2025, nirfindia.org), up from rank 13 (NIRF 2024, nirfindia.org).

2. Admission Route: How You Actually Get In

There is one published route: the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP). Nothing on the official SIBM Pune admission pages or on snaptest.org describes a MAH MBA-CET or DTE CAP entry here. As a deemed-university constituent it admits on its own test, not through Maharashtra state counselling, so there is no state-quota seat or fee.

Eligibility is a graduate degree from any recognised University or Institution of National Importance with at least 50% marks, 45% for SC and ST candidates (SIBM Pune official MBA page). Final-year students may apply. No official page states a work-experience requirement.

Register on snaptest.org and pay Rs. 2,250 per test, then register separately to SIBM Pune for Rs. 1,000 per programme plus GST (SNAP 2025 official FAQ; SIBM Pune official How to Apply page). You may sit up to three SNAP tests, and the highest score counts. The paper is 60 questions in 60 minutes, General English 15, Analytical and Logical Reasoning 25, Quantitative, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency 20, with 1 mark per correct answer and 25% negative marking.

Shortlisted candidates are announced via a web-link and called to the online Group Exercise, Personal Interview and Written Ability Test (SIBM Pune official MBA page); attending every component is mandatory.

In one line: half your merit is fixed before you enter the room, and the personal interaction carries four times the weight of the group exercise.

Merit component (SNAP 2025 official admission criteria)Marks
SNAP score (out of 60, scaled down to 50 marks)50
Group Exercise (GE)10
Personal Interaction (PI)40

3. Fee Structure (What Is Officially Published)

In one line: SIBM Pune publishes a batch-wise installment schedule rather than a single course fee, and for Batch 2026-2028 the two first-year installments are Rs. 9,12,100 and Rs. 7,14,800 (AY2026-27, SIBM Pune official MBA Fees Structure PDF, Batch 2026-2028).

Line item, Batch 2026-20281st year, 1st installment1st year, 2nd installment
Academic FeesRs. 6,55,000Rs. 6,55,000
Institute Deposit (refundable)Rs. 20,000
Hostel Deposit (refundable)Rs. 20,000
Hostel Fees (three sharing)Rs. 1,57,300
Mess FeesRs. 59,800Rs. 59,800
Installment payableRs. 9,12,100Rs. 7,14,800
Last date of paymentAt the time of admission25-Nov-2026

Reproducing the institute's own installment arithmetic, year one totals Rs. 16,26,900 with hostel and mess. Second-year installments fall due on 25-Jun-2027 and 25-Nov-2027.

Three statements in that PDF change your budget:

  • The academic fee row is labelled "Per Annum" yet Rs. 6,55,000 appears against each installment column. Ask the institute to confirm in writing which reading applies before you size a loan.
  • Second-year hostel and mess are to be "communicated before commencement of the next year", and "can increase up to 15% each year".
  • "Government taxes would be additional as and when applicable."

So a two-year total is [FIGURE MISSING — AY2026-28]: it is not published, and doubling year one would be a guess. The official schedule lives at sibm.edu/mba_fees_structure. The previous batch carried academic fees of Rs. 6,22,500, hostel Rs. 1,43,000 and mess Rs. 52,000 (AY2025-26, same page, Batch 2025-2027).

4. Cutoffs and Shortlisting: How to Read Them

SIBM Pune does not publish a SNAP percentile cutoff. What it publishes is a shortlist, announced via a web-link (SIBM Pune official MBA page). The cutoff for the current cycle is therefore [FIGURE MISSING — AY2026-27], and the only places an official number would appear are sibm.edu and snaptest.org. Cutoff tables on aggregator sites are reconstructions from candidate reports, not institute disclosures.

The mechanism is published, and it tells you more than a cutoff would. Shortlisting for the GE-PI stage runs on overall SNAP percentile, and that cut-off is calculated separately for each programme and each institute (snaptest.org). The MBA and MBA (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) shortlists are drawn independently, so applying to both means two programme registrations.

Now read the weightage again. The SNAP score is scaled from 60 down to 50 marks out of 100, so a strong percentile gets you into the room and locks in half your merit score, but does not admit you. The other 50 marks are Group Exercise (10) and Personal Interaction (40), so a candidate who clears the shortlist narrowly and interviews well can finish above a higher scorer.

Two consequences: up to three SNAP attempts are allowed with the highest counting, so one bad sitting is recoverable; and because negative marking makes the percentile a net-marks number, accuracy beats volume.

Timeline from the last completed cycle: SNAP ran on multiple dates in December 2025, the GEPI shortlist was declared on 19 January 2026, and GEPI ran in two February 2026 phases (SNAP official SIBM Pune page). Confirm current dates on snaptest.org.

5. Placements: What Is Verifiable

In one line: the institute's own Campus Recruitment Programme report puts the median CTC at INR 27.00 LPA and the average at INR 28.18 LPA for the batch of 2024-26 (CRP 2025, SIBM Pune official Placement Report).

Placement report (batch)Median CTCAverage CTCHighest CTCPPOs
CRP 2025 (2024-26)INR 27.00 LPAINR 28.18 LPAINR 74.84 LPA132
CRP 2024 (2022-24)INR 26.04 LPAINR 28.83 LPAINR 53.58 LPA98
CRP 2023 (2021-23)INR 25.00 LPAINR 28.16 LPAINR 49.00 LPA96

Every row is from the SIBM Pune official Placement Report for the year named. The average sits above the median in each, because a thin top tail pulls the mean up. CRP 2025 publishes that tail, at top 10% INR 39.76 LPA, top 25% INR 33.84 LPA and top 50% INR 29.83 LPA. Plan on the median; the highest is one person.

A second official source reports lower. In its NIRF submissions the institute recorded a median salary of placed graduates of Rs. 25,00,000 for AY2023-24, Rs. 24,00,000 for AY2022-23 and Rs. 20,80,000 for AY2021-22 (NIRF 2025, SIBM Pune submission), and Rs. 18,00,000 for AY2020-21 (NIRF 2024, SIBM Pune submission). The AY2023-24 NIRF median sits below the CRP 2024 median for that same cohort: same institute, different reporting definitions. Treat NIRF as the conservative figure.

NIRF also supplies the denominator the placement reports omit: in AY2023-24, 247 students graduated in minimum stipulated time and 239 were placed.

6. Campus, Hostel and Living Costs

The MBA is full-time and residential, so hostel is not optional in your budget: it sits inside the published fee schedule, billed with tuition.

The Lavale campus covers 44.87 acres. Accommodation is in three hostel blocks, New, Old and Annex, with separate hostels for girls and boys and double, triple and tetra sharing rooms. Shared facilities include the Central Library of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) with EBSCO, Emerald, Scopus and JSTOR subscriptions, the Symbiosis Centre for Health Care, a 25-metre swimming pool, cricket and football grounds and an all-day cafeteria (SIBM Pune official Infrastructure page).

Published accommodation costs for Batch 2026-2028:

  • Hostel Fees, three sharing: Rs. 1,57,300, first year (AY2026-27, SIBM Pune official MBA Fees Structure PDF, Batch 2026-2028)
  • Mess Fees: Rs. 59,800 per installment, charged in both first-year installments (AY2026-27, same source)
  • Hostel Deposit, refundable: Rs. 20,000 (AY2026-27, same source)
  • Second-year hostel and mess: [FIGURE MISSING — AY2027-28], stated in the PDF as communicated before the next year begins and able to rise by up to 15%

Only the three-sharing rate appears in the schedule; rates for double or tetra rooms are not published, so ask before accepting the offer.

Living costs beyond fees, such as travel, a laptop and personal spending, are not published and we will not invent a number. Budget them realistically: Lavale sits outside Pune city, so travel into town is a recurring cost, not a walk.

7. Who Should NOT Choose SIBM Pune

Skip this one if you need a low-cost MBA. Year one alone is Rs. 16,26,900 on the published Batch 2026-2028 schedule, before second-year academic fees and hostel and mess rises of up to 15%. If your plan depends on a subsidised state-quota seat, a deemed-university constituent has no CAP quota to fall back on.

Skip it if you are funding entirely by loan and the arithmetic only works at the top of the salary distribution. Test your EMI against the median, INR 27.00 LPA in CRP 2025 or the more conservative Rs. 25,00,000 NIRF median for AY2023-24, not against the INR 74.84 LPA highest and not against the average. A repayment plan that needs a top-decile outcome is not a plan.

Skip the full-time programme if you have work experience you cannot step away from. SIBM Pune runs a separate weekend MBA (Executive) at the same campus built for working professionals, and forcing the wrong format is expensive.

Skip it if you cannot live on campus. Medical needs, caregiving responsibilities or a spouse working in another city are real constraints, not details to sort out later.

Finally, be honest about exam fit. SNAP is a 60-minute, 60-question paper with 25% negative marking. Treating SIBM Pune as a pure backup and skipping preparation for the GE-PI-WAT stage, which carries half the merit weight, usually ends at the shortlist.

8. How SIBM Pune Compares

Compare on decision axes, not a league table.

Same exam, same university: SCMHRD Pune. It admits through SNAP on the same 50/10/40 merit split and sits on the same Lavale campus, so it is the natural second programme registration on one SNAP form. The choice is specialisation mix and cohort fit, not exam strategy.

Cost against a public alternative: JBIMS Mumbai. It admits through the Maharashtra MAH MBA-CET counselling route at a published fee far below SIBM Pune's. The trade is a different exam, a domicile-weighted counselling process and far fewer seats. If cost is your binding constraint, run this comparison properly.

Exam-risk diversification: IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode and MDI Gurgaon admit on CAT. SNAP is a separate December examination allowing up to three attempts, so SIBM Pune is real diversification rather than a duplicate application.

Process and profile fit: SPJIMR Mumbai. It runs its own admission process rather than a common merit formula, weighs non-academic achievement differently, and admits into specialisations directly. If your record is unusual and a 50-mark scaled test score would undersell you, that difference matters more than the fee gap.

On rankings we quote only named ones: NIRF 2025 places SIBM Pune at rank 11 in Management with a score of 67.90 (nirfindia.org). Compare each peer above on that same list.

Check affordability before choice filling

Admission route, eligibility and preference order come first. As one decision checkpoint, enter the loan you may need to see the EMI and total interest before locking a college in your counselling choices.

CALCULATORWhat will this loan actually cost you?
Monthly EMIβ‚Ή16,344
Total interestβ‚Ή3,72,894
Total repaidβ‚Ή13,72,894
Take-home needed (EMI ≀ 40%)β‚Ή40,860/mo

Standard reducing-balance arithmetic on the numbers you enter β€” your actual rate and moratorium terms depend on the lender. The 40% ceiling is this site's own ROI rule: an EMI above 40% of take-home leaves nothing for rent, food or savings.

Frequently asked questions

Which entrance exams does SIBM Pune accept?

SIBM Pune admits through the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) alone. Nothing on the official SIBM Pune pages or on snaptest.org describes a MAH MBA-CET or DTE CAP route into the institute, because it is a constituent of a deemed university rather than a state-affiliated college. You register for SNAP, then register separately for the SIBM Pune programme on the same portal.

Is work experience required for the SIBM Pune MBA?

No official SIBM Pune or SNAP page states a work-experience requirement for the two-year full-time MBA. The published eligibility is a graduate degree from any recognised University or Institution of National Importance with at least 50% marks, 45% for SC and ST candidates. Final-year students may apply. If you want a format built around working, SIBM Pune runs a separate weekend MBA (Executive).

How is the SIBM Pune shortlist and final merit list decided?

Shortlisting for the Group Exercise and Personal Interview stage is done on overall SNAP percentile, calculated separately for each programme and each institute. The final merit list carries 100 marks: SNAP score scaled from 60 down to 50, Group Exercise 10 and Personal Interaction 40 (SNAP 2025 official admission criteria). Attending every component is mandatory to appear on the list.

Is hostel compulsory at SIBM Pune, and what does it cost?

The full-time MBA is described as residential on the official programme page, and hostel and mess sit inside the published fee schedule rather than as optional extras. For Batch 2026-2028 the institute publishes hostel fees of Rs. 1,57,300 on three sharing for year one, mess of Rs. 59,800 per installment, and a refundable hostel deposit of Rs. 20,000. Second-year rates are communicated later.

How do scholarships and education loans work at SIBM Pune?

Symbiosis International (Deemed University) publishes its scholarship schemes centrally on the university admissions site rather than on the SIBM Pune page, and the institute directs applicants there. For funding, SIU lists education loan schemes with Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank, hosting each scheme document. Amounts and interest rates come from the bank.

How should I verify the latest SIBM Pune admission route?

Start with SNAP and the institute selection process. Then match the current prospectus, application notice and counselling schedule on the official authority or institute website. A route from an older cycle should not be assumed to remain unchanged.

How should I read the SIBM Pune cutoff shown on this page?

Read the exam, year, round, category, quota, branch and closing-rank or percentile label together. A cutoff from another category or an earlier round is not a promise of admission in the current cycle.

How do I confirm the complete fee for SIBM Pune?

Use the current official fee notice and add tuition, development or university charges, deposits, hostel, mess and other compulsory costs. Ask for the payable amount and refund terms in writing before transferring money.

Extended admission FAQs

Do placement figures guarantee an outcome at SIBM Pune?

No. A highest, average, median or placement-rate figure describes a particular batch and methodology. Prefer a completed, dated report with batch size and branch-level context; it cannot guarantee an individual salary or job.

Can anyone guarantee direct admission to SIBM Pune?

No counsellor can override eligibility, merit, counselling or the institute's published process. Use only official portals and receipts, and do not pay an individual who promises a confirmed seat outside the documented route.

Which documents should I prepare for SIBM Pune admission?

Keep the current exam scorecard, identity and nationality proof, Class 10 and 12 records, leaving or transfer certificate, allotment letter and payment receipt. Domicile, category, income, NCL, EWS, migration, gap or NRI documents apply only where the current authority requires them.

What should I compare before placing SIBM Pune in my preference list?

Compare the exact branch or programme, admission probability, total cost, location, accreditation, published outcomes and a realistic fallback option. Never list a college you would be unable or unwilling to join if allotted.

What if a current SIBM Pune figure is still unverified?

Treat it as pending rather than filling the gap with an aggregator estimate. Use the previous completed cycle only as historical context and wait for the competent authority or institute to publish the current figure.

How current is the information on this SIBM Pune page?

The page shows its publication or update date and keeps changing figures tied to an academic year. No page-specific primary source is registered yet, so current figures require direct verification.

How can Future Career Guidance help with SIBM Pune admission?

We help interpret eligibility, compare realistic options, organise documents and build a preference or application plan. We do not guarantee allotment, bypass merit or collect unofficial cash premiums for seats.

Which source takes priority if two SIBM Pune figures conflict?

Use the newest document issued by the competent counselling authority, regulator or institute for the same year, quota and programme. A dated primary document takes priority over an undated webpage, brochure summary or third-party listing.
