1. NSUT: What It Is and Where It Stands

Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) is a Delhi government technical university at Sector-3, Dwarka. It started in 1983 as Delhi Institute of Technology, was later renamed Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, and became a university on 26 September 2018 under The Delhi Netaji Subhas University of Technology Act, 2017 (Delhi Act 06 of 2018), notified in the Delhi Gazette of 27 September 2018 (NSUT official "About NSUT" page). Before that it was an autonomous institution under the Government of NCT of Delhi, affiliated to the University of Delhi. The Act constitutes it as a non-affiliating university, so it now frames its own programmes and awards its own degrees.

NSUT runs three campuses. The main campus on Azad Hind Fauj Marg, Sector-3, Dwarka covers 145 acres and is described by the university as fully residential (NSUT official "About Campus" page). The East Campus at Geeta Colony, Delhi-110031 is the former Ambedkar Institute of Advanced Communication Technologies and Research; the West Campus at Jaffarpur, New Delhi-110073 is the former Ch. Brahm Prakash Government Engineering College (JAC Delhi 2026 Admission Brochure, Chapter 1). Eighteen B.Tech programmes and one five-year B.Arch are offered across the three sites.

In India Rankings 2025, NSUT was placed 70th in the Engineering category with a score of 50.43, and in the 101-150 band in the University category (NIRF 2025, nirfindia.org). We did not find a NAAC grade published on the university's own website, so we do not state one.

2. Admission Route: How You Actually Get a Seat

NSUT does not run its own B.Tech counselling. Seats are filled by JAC Delhi, the Joint Admission Committee constituted by the Government of NCT of Delhi, which also handles DTU, IGDTUW, IIIT-Delhi and DSEU on one common form (jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in, 2026 session). Allotment to NSUT B.Tech is made strictly on the JEE Main 2026 Paper-1 Common Rank List; B.Arch uses the JEE Main 2026 Paper-2 rank (JAC Delhi 2026 Admission Brochure, Chapter 2).

Two filters decide which pool you compete in.

  • Region: 85% of seats are earmarked for candidates who passed the qualifying examination from a school in the NCT of Delhi, and 15% for candidates who passed from outside Delhi (JAC Delhi 2026 brochure, section 2.1).
  • Category: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC non-creamy-layer 27% and EWS 10%, with Defence (5%) and Persons with Disabilities (5%) sub-categories available inside each main category (JAC Delhi 2026 brochure, section 3.1).

Eligibility for B.Tech is 60% or more in aggregate across Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, a pass in English, and a pass in every other Class XII subject, with relaxations for reserved categories. B.Arch needs 45% in aggregate with PCM and English. Candidates placed in compartment in 2026 are not eligible this year.

The counselling runs four regular rounds, then an upgradation of already-admitted candidates against seats vacant after Round 4, then a spot round for whatever is still open.

3. Fee Structure (What Is Officially Published)

NSUT publishes the whole four-year fee schedule for each entering batch in advance. In one line: for the batch admitted in 2026-27, the annual fee starts at ₹2,70,000 and rises to ₹3,33,000 in the fourth year.

Total per year₹2,70,000₹2,90,000₹3,19,000₹3,33,000

Source: NSUT notification F.No.220(558)/AnnualFeeStructure/2025/Acad/NSUT, "Annual Fee of all the programs for the students taking admission in the Academic Session 2026-27". The same year-wise totals for years II to IV are repeated in the JAC Delhi 2026 Admission Brochure, Chapter 6.

The payment is split. ₹95,000 is the Seat Acceptance Fee paid during JAC counselling; the balance of ₹1,75,000 is paid to NSUT (NSUT circular No. 208(169)/B.Tech./Admission-2026/NSUT/99 dated 27 July 2026). A separate Alumni Association membership fee of ₹2,000 is payable to the Alumni Association. Adding NSUT's own four published annual totals gives ₹12,12,000 of academic fees for the degree - the sum of the university's figures, not our estimate, and it excludes hostel, mess and living costs.

4. Cutoff Trends: How to Read Them

JAC Delhi publishes NSUT's round-wise closing ranks on its OR-CR page. In one line: in Round 4 of 2026, Computer Science closed at 15,825 for the general Delhi-region pool and at 7,573 for the general outside-Delhi pool on the JEE Main 2026 Common Rank List.

Source: JAC Delhi, "NSUT Round 4 Cut Off 2026" (14 July 2026), Delhi Region and Outside Delhi Region sheets, based on the JEE Main 2026 Common Rank List.

Read the pattern, not the single number. Outside-Delhi ranks close far tighter than Delhi-region ranks for the same branch, because only 15% of the 2,197 B.Tech seats sit in that pool - so a Delhi school-leaver and an outside-Delhi school-leaver holding the same rank are not in the same race. Ranks also loosen from Round 1 to Round 4 as candidates withdraw or upgrade, and move again in the post-Round-4 upgradation and the spot round, so a Round 1 figure is not the number to plan around. Earlier years' sheets sit in the JAC Delhi archive; we have not reproduced them because we only quote sheets we have opened. [FIGURE MISSING - 2023, 2024 and 2025 round-wise closing ranks]

5. Placements: What Is Verifiable

The only placement numbers we quote are the ones NSUT itself submitted to the Ministry of Education's ranking framework, because those carry the university's own signature. In one line: the median annual salary of placed UG graduates was ₹17,00,000 for the batch graduating in 2024-25.

Graduating batch (B.Tech, 4 years)Graduated in stipulated timePlacedMedian salary
2022-231,153977₹17,00,000
2023-241,7251,362₹16,50,000
2024-251,7851,510₹17,00,000

Sources: NIRF 2025 and NIRF 2026 Engineering data submissions by NSUT (Institute ID IR-E-C-6379). One honest caveat: in the NIRF 2026 sheet the 2024-25 figure is written as the numeral 1700000, but the amount-in-words beside it reads "Rupees Seventy Lakh" - an internal inconsistency in the university's own submission. We quote the numeral and flag the discrepancy rather than pick the flattering reading.

For the same 2024-25 cohort, 87 students were recorded as selected for higher studies. The M.Tech median for the 2024-25 graduating batch was ₹13,50,000, on 79 of 122 graduates placed.

Not verifiable from any official NSUT document we opened: branch-wise medians, the average and highest package, recruiter-wise offer counts, and the split between software and core-engineering roles. [FIGURE MISSING - branch-wise placement data, AY2025-26] A university-wide median hides the gap between the computing branches and the core branches, and NSUT does not publish that split.

6. Hostel & Campus Life

Hostel accommodation at the Dwarka main campus is real but finite, and how it is allotted matters more than most applicants expect. NSUT lists four boys' hostels (BH1 to BH4), one for each year of study, each able to accommodate up to 276 students in single and double-bedded rooms, and two girls' hostels (NSUT official "Hostels" page). Rooms are allotted on the basis of the student's permanent address, sorted by distance, so outside-Delhi candidates are given top priority - the mirror image of the seat matrix, where outside-Delhi candidates are the smaller pool.

Each hostel has its own in-premises mess, 24-hour water supply, power backup and parking. The university also lists common rooms, a badminton court and table-tennis rooms, and notes that a shopping complex and a metro station are within walking distance of the hostels. The wider campus is 145 acres and carries a sports complex, canteens, a bank, a post office and a medical centre.

Hostel and mess charges are not part of the annual fee notification, which covers academic fees only, and we did not find a published hostel fee schedule on the university website. [FIGURE MISSING - hostel and mess fee, AY2026-27] Hostel allotment notices for first-year students are issued through the university management system notice board, which is where the current charges should be confirmed.

For the 2026-27 first-year batch, orientation and induction were scheduled for 5 and 6 August 2026 and classes from 10 August 2026 (NSUT circular dated 27 July 2026).

7. Who Should NOT Choose NSUT

Some applicants are better served elsewhere, and it is cheaper to learn that now than in October.

  • Outside-Delhi candidates whose rank only clears a branch they do not want. Only 15% of seats sit in that pool, and the closing ranks show it. Taking a branch you have no interest in, in a city you will pay Delhi rent in, is a worse outcome than a better branch at a good state college at home.
  • Anyone counting on a branch change after admission. JAC Delhi's brochure states only that some participating universities may carry out branch upgradation or change after the session begins, as per their own regulations. That is not a promise, and it should never be the reason you accept a branch.
  • Families for whom a rising fee is a risk. The published schedule climbs every year, and hostel, mess and living costs sit outside it entirely. Budget the full four years before the seat acceptance payment, not after.
  • Students set on a core mechanical, civil or biotechnology career who need branch-level evidence. The verified median is a university-wide number; NSUT does not publish branch-wise placement data.
  • Applicants who assume all three campuses are the same place. Several branches sit at the East Campus in Geeta Colony or the West Campus at Jaffarpur, not at Dwarka. Check which campus your choice belongs to before you fill it, because the commute and the facilities differ.

8. How NSUT Compares

Compare on the axis that actually changes your decision, not on a general impression.

Entry route and domicile. This is the biggest fork. NSUT is a JAC Delhi college, so a Delhi school-leaver gets the 85% pool and everyone else competes for 15%. COEP Pune, VJTI Mumbai and PICT Pune are filled through Maharashtra's CAP counselling, where a Maharashtra domicile candidate has the equivalent advantage. If you hold Delhi schooling, NSUT is structurally easy to reach relative to your rank; if you hold Maharashtra schooling, COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai are. Few candidates should be optimising across both systems.

Fee shape. Within JAC Delhi itself, the 2026-27 first-year fee is ₹2,70,000 at NSUT and ₹2,69,700 at DTU, while IIIT-Delhi is ₹4,50,000 and IGDTUW is ₹1,68,000 per annum (JAC Delhi 2026 Admission Brochure, Chapter 6). So the NSUT-versus-DTU choice is not a fee decision at all - it is branch, campus and commute. The Maharashtra colleges publish separate fee notifications and are not comparable from this page.

City and hiring market. NSUT sits inside the Delhi-NCR recruiting market; PICT Pune and COEP Pune sit inside Pune's, and VJTI Mumbai inside Mumbai's. If your family or intended industry is anchored in one of those cities, that anchoring is worth more than a few ranking positions.

Institutional age. NSUT is a 2018 university built on a 1983 institution, so the degree is young while the alumni base is not.

Check affordability before choice filling

Admission route, eligibility and preference order come first. As one decision checkpoint, enter the loan you may need to see the EMI and total interest before locking a college in your counselling choices.

CALCULATORWhat will this loan actually cost you?
Monthly EMI₹16,344
Total interest₹3,72,894
Total repaid₹13,72,894
Take-home needed (EMI ≤ 40%)₹40,860/mo

Standard reducing-balance arithmetic on the numbers you enter — your actual rate and moratorium terms depend on the lender. The 40% ceiling is this site's own ROI rule: an EMI above 40% of take-home leaves nothing for rent, food or savings.

Frequently asked questions

Do I apply to NSUT directly for B.Tech, or through JAC Delhi?

Through JAC Delhi. NSUT does not run its own B.Tech counselling: registration, choice filling and seat allotment all happen on jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in, on one common form shared with DTU, IGDTUW, IIIT-Delhi and DSEU. Allotment is strictly on your JEE Main 2026 Paper-1 Common Rank List position. B.Tech lateral entry and B.Des are handled separately on the university's own Samarth admission portal.

How many rounds does JAC Delhi run, and how do I keep the seat I have?

There are four regular rounds, then an upgradation of already-admitted candidates against seats left vacant after Round 4, then a spot round if seats remain. If you are happy with your allotted branch and want to stop being upgraded, you must exercise the Branch Freezing option in your JAC candidate login on the day listed in the counselling schedule. Silence means you stay in the upgradation pool.

What documents do I need at physical reporting?

The JAC Delhi 2026 brochure lists the seat acceptance fee receipt, the signed registration form, a printout of your filled choices, three passport photographs, the JEE Main 2026 admit card and score card, the Class XII marksheet, the downloaded seat allotment letter, the Class X certificate as date-of-birth proof, a medical fitness certificate, and the relevant category or sub-category certificate where claimed.

How are hostel rooms allotted at NSUT?

NSUT allots hostel rooms on the basis of the student's permanent address, sorted by distance, so candidates from outside Delhi get top priority. The main campus lists four boys' hostels, one per year of study, each accommodating up to 276 students in single and double-bedded rooms, plus two girls' hostels. Allotment notices for first-year students are published on the university management system notice board.

Can I change my branch after joining NSUT?

Do not assume so. The JAC Delhi brochure says only that some participating universities may carry out branch upgradation or change after the session commences, as per the regulations of that university, and directs students to ask the institution directly. There is no JAC-level guarantee. Treat the branch you accept in counselling as the branch you will graduate in.

How should I verify the latest NSUT Delhi admission route?

Start with the entrance and counselling route published by the institute or competent authority. Then match the current prospectus, application notice and counselling schedule on the official authority or institute website. A route from an older cycle should not be assumed to remain unchanged.

How should I read the NSUT Delhi cutoff shown on this page?

Read the exam, year, round, category, quota, branch and closing-rank or percentile label together. A cutoff from another category or an earlier round is not a promise of admission in the current cycle.

How do I confirm the complete fee for NSUT Delhi?

Use the current official fee notice and add tuition, development or university charges, deposits, hostel, mess and other compulsory costs. Ask for the payable amount and refund terms in writing before transferring money.

Extended admission FAQs

Do placement figures guarantee an outcome at NSUT Delhi?

No. A highest, average, median or placement-rate figure describes a particular batch and methodology. Prefer a completed, dated report with batch size and branch-level context; it cannot guarantee an individual salary or job.

Can anyone guarantee direct admission to NSUT Delhi?

No counsellor can override eligibility, merit, counselling or the institute's published process. Use only official portals and receipts, and do not pay an individual who promises a confirmed seat outside the documented route.

Which documents should I prepare for NSUT Delhi admission?

Keep the current exam scorecard, identity and nationality proof, Class 10 and 12 records, leaving or transfer certificate, allotment letter and payment receipt. Domicile, category, income, NCL, EWS, migration, gap or NRI documents apply only where the current authority requires them.

What should I compare before placing NSUT Delhi in my preference list?

Compare the exact branch or programme, admission probability, total cost, location, accreditation, published outcomes and a realistic fallback option. Never list a college you would be unable or unwilling to join if allotted.

What if a current NSUT Delhi figure is still unverified?

Treat it as pending rather than filling the gap with an aggregator estimate. Use the previous completed cycle only as historical context and wait for the competent authority or institute to publish the current figure.

How current is the information on this NSUT Delhi page?

The page shows its publication or update date and keeps changing figures tied to an academic year. No page-specific primary source is registered yet, so current figures require direct verification.

How can Future Career Guidance help with NSUT Delhi admission?

We help interpret eligibility, compare realistic options, organise documents and build a preference or application plan. We do not guarantee allotment, bypass merit or collect unofficial cash premiums for seats.

Which source takes priority if two NSUT Delhi figures conflict?

Use the newest document issued by the competent counselling authority, regulator or institute for the same year, quota and programme. A dated primary document takes priority over an undated webpage, brochure summary or third-party listing.
