QUICK OVERVIEW

Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT), Pune admission overview

PICT Pune accepts MHT-CET and JEE Main for B.Tech admission: MHT-CET is used for Maharashtra CAP and the published institute-level merit references, while JEE Main is used for All-India CAP seats. The 2026-27 notice shows 780 regular sanctioned first-year seats across five computing and electronics programmes; the 78 OCI/FN and 39 CIWGC seats are supernumerary and sit outside that total. Open-category tuition plus development is โ‚น1,23,000, with โ‚น5,000 caution money listed separately, while the institute-level and NRI seat-fee line is โ‚น2,00,000 โ€” PICT states these fees may be revised pending its Review Application to the Fees Regulatory Authority. Hostel is charged separately at โ‚น1,15,000 to โ‚น1,25,000 plus a โ‚น15,000 refundable deposit. The completed 2023-24 report shows โ‚น12.5 LPA overall average and 93.15% placed; 2025-26 figures remain labelled ongoing. CAP Round I 2025 and institute-level cutoffs through 2025-26 are historical references, not 2026 guarantees.

  • Exams accepted: MHT-CET and JEE Main. CAP, institute-level, NRI, OCI/FN and CIWGC are admission routes or seat categories, not entrance exams.
  • PICT institute code is 06271; each B.Tech programme has its own choice code in the CET Cell option form.
  • The official 2026-27 primary notice separates Maharashtra CAP, All-India CAP, institute-level, NRI, OCI/FN and CIWGC seats.
  • The supplied official fee pages publish different totals for Open/CAP, institute-level and international-category routes; compare the correct column before payment.

Evidence note: Use the academic year shown beside changing figures and verify the linked official document before payment or choice locking.

Fees by admission route (2026-27)

In one line: PICT does not have one universal payable figure: the โ‚น2,00,000 seat-fee line and โ‚น2,12,570 international-page total cover different sets of fee heads.

Why two management/NRI figures appear: the UG/FRA page displays a โ‚น2,00,000 seat-fee line, while the separate international-category page totals tuition, development, SPPU, examination, eligibility and caution-money heads at โ‚น2,12,570 for its combined Management / NRI / OCI / FN column. They are not interchangeable totals. The written demand for the allotted route is the final payment reference.

Official sources: PICT UG fee structure page (pict.edu/FRA_fee_structure), captured 2 August 2026, and the PICT international admission fee table. Obtain the current route-specific demand before payment.

These fees are not final. The PICT UG fee page carries an explicit note that the tuition fee and development fee are subject to revision based on the outcome of the Review Application submitted to the Fees Regulatory Authority. Treat โ‚น1,06,956 tuition, โ‚น16,044 development and the โ‚น1,23,000 total as the figures displayed on 2 August 2026, not as a settled amount โ€” and budget against the written demand issued for the allotted route.

What a PICT B.Tech actually costs over four years

In one line: PICT does not publish a four-year total, so the figure below is our own computation from its published annual heads โ€” not an institute figure, and not a quotation.

Read this section as an estimate, because that is what it is. PICT publishes annual fee heads and annual hostel charges. It does not publish a consolidated four-year cost, and we will not present one as though it did. What follows is our arithmetic on PICT's own published annual figures, shown line by line so you can check every step and substitute your own route.

Our computed four-year estimate for a PICT B.Tech, built from PICT's published annual heads
ComponentPublished annual figureOur four-year computation
Tuition + development, Open/CAP routeโ‚น1,23,000 per year (โ‚น1,06,956 tuition + โ‚น16,044 development)โ‚น4,92,000 โ€” our estimate, assuming the current figure holds for four years
Institute-level / NRI seat-fee lineโ‚น2,00,000 per yearโ‚น8,00,000 โ€” our estimate on the same assumption
Caution money / depositโ‚น5,000, one time and refundableโ‚น5,000 once, returnable at exit
Hostel, double occupancy with attached WCโ‚น1,25,000 per year + โ‚น15,000 refundable depositโ‚น5,00,000 over four years โ€” only if a hostel seat is allotted every year
Hostel, boys double occupancy with common WCโ‚น1,15,000 per year + โ‚น15,000 refundable depositโ‚น4,60,000 over four years, same condition

Three reasons this estimate can move, and all three are on the record. First, PICT's own fee page states that the tuition and development fees are subject to revision based on the outcome of the Review Application submitted to the Fees Regulatory Authority โ€” so the โ‚น1,23,000 base is not fixed for the current year, let alone the next four. Second, fee revisions between academic years are normal and are approved annually, so a flat four-year multiplication is a convenience, not a forecast. Third, a hostel seat is not guaranteed: published capacity is 212 student places for girls and 152 for boys, and a year spent off campus replaces the hostel line with rent we cannot source.

What this means practically: use the Open-route line if you are budgeting a CAP allotment, use the โ‚น2,00,000 line if you are planning for institute-level or NRI, and treat the hostel row as conditional. Then replace all of it with the written demand PICT issues for the route you are actually allotted, because that demand โ€” not this table and not any other site's total โ€” is the number you will pay. Personal expenses, travel, laptop and books are deliberately excluded here; we have no official source for them and will not invent one.

If you are funding any part of this with an education loan, run the figures rather than eyeballing them โ€” our college fee EMI calculator takes a principal, rate and tenure and returns the monthly instalment and total interest, so you can see what a โ‚น1,23,000-per-year route costs to service against what a โ‚น2,00,000-per-year route costs. It computes only on numbers you enter, so nothing in it is a claim about PICT.

Basis: annual figures from the PICT UG fee structure page (pict.edu/FRA_fee_structure) and the PICT official hostel page, both captured 2 August 2026. The four-year column is our computed estimate, derived by multiplying PICT's published annual figures; PICT publishes no four-year total and has not endorsed this computation.

PICT cutoff 2026 and last 3 years

In one line: The PICT 2026 closing cutoff is not published yet; the verified 2025, 2024 and 2023 institute-level references are shown below.

Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering97.505109699.207011798.9338939

Official source: PICT institute-level cutoff page. The year labels above map to AY 2025-26, AY 2024-25 and AY 2023-24. These are institute-level MHT-CET percentiles, not CAP closing scores.

What the three years actually show. Read the table across, not down. Every one of the five programmes closed higher in 2024 than in 2023, and every one closed lower in 2025 than in 2024 โ€” the pattern is uniform, with no branch bucking it. The movement is not uniform in size, though: Computer Engineering gave up the least ground between 2024 and 2025, while Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering moved the most, from 99.2070117 down to 97.5051096. Information Technology and Electronics & Computer Engineering sit between those two extremes.

What that does and does not tell you. A closing percentile is the score of the last candidate admitted through that route in that year โ€” it is a record of where demand and seat supply happened to meet, not a standard the institute sets in advance. A softer year usually reflects the applicant pool and the seat matrix for that cycle, so a single year's easing is not a trend you can bank on, and three years is a short series. What the table is genuinely useful for is calibration: it shows the band PICT has closed in recently, which is what you need when ordering preferences and deciding how much fallback to build in below it.

Do not carry these numbers into the CAP section. The values above are PICT's own institute-level merit references. The CAP closing scores are a different process, a different seat pool and different numbers โ€” for Computer Engineering the 2025 institute-level value is 99.2156179 while the CAP Round I State-Level Open value is 99.7116474. Both are correct; they describe different doors. Use the CAP Round I 2025 table if you are entering through Maharashtra or All-India CAP, and this table only for the institute-level route.

For 2026 the honest position is that no closing figure exists yet. PICT publishes institute-level closing values after the relevant round completes, so any 2026 percentile circulating before then โ€” on a coaching post, a forum or an aggregator โ€” is an estimate someone has constructed, not a published result. We will add the 2026 row here when PICT publishes it, and the page's Updated date will move when we do.

Dashboard reconciliation: the three branch slices visible in the supplied chart total 608, matching its trend line, while the headline card shows 610. The separately displayed 80.66% is also preserved exactly; its denominator or calculation method is not stated in the supplied view and it should not be recomputed from 812. These are ongoing dashboard indicators, not a final five-programme placement result.

PICT publishes averages, not a median โ€” and that limits what these figures tell you. Every placement number above is an average or a headline high. An average is pulled upward by a small number of large offers, so it describes the batch's total rather than its middle. Where a median exists it is the better guide, because it is what the middle graduate actually received. Two comparable Pune institutes publish one: COEP reports a โ‚น10.50 LPA institute median against a โ‚น12.50 LPA average for AY2025-26, and VIT Pune publishes six consecutive years of medians. That โ‚น2 lakh gap at COEP is the size of the distortion an average can carry.

We are not publishing a median for PICT because PICT does not publish one, and it cannot be derived โ€” a median cannot be calculated from an average and a highest package. If you are asking PICT about placements, the single most useful question is what the median package was for your branch in the last completed cycle, rather than the institute-wide average.

CAP rounds, freeze and float: where the seat is actually lost

In one line: If CAP allots your first preference the seat is auto-freezed and you are out of later rounds โ€” so the first preference is a commitment, not a wish.

Most candidates lose a PICT seat at the round-mechanics stage rather than the merit stage. The rules below are set by the Maharashtra State CET Cell for every CAP institute, PICT included, and they are published in the Information Brochure for Academic Year 2026-27 dated 2 July 2026. They are worth reading before the option form, not after.

CAP Round I outcomes and what each one commits you to (Information Brochure, AY 2026-27)
What CAP allots youWhat happens automaticallyCan you still improve in later rounds?
Your first preferenceThe allotment is auto-freezed. You must accept it. You then report to the ARC, or self-scrutinise your uploaded documents, and pay the seat acceptance fee online.No. You are not eligible for subsequent CAP rounds. This allotment is final.
Not your first preference, and you are satisfiedYou may freeze the seat through your login, then report to the ARC or self-scrutinise, and pay the seat acceptance fee.No โ€” once you freeze, that allotment is final.
Not your first preference, and you accept it without freezingYou report to the ARC or self-scrutinise to confirm seat acceptance, holding the seat.Yes โ€” you stay eligible for later rounds for betterment, while holding the current seat.
Not your first preference, and you do not accept itThe seat is not confirmed to you.Yes โ€” you remain eligible for subsequent rounds, but you are holding nothing in the meantime.
Any allotment where you fail to report or self-scrutinise in timeYour claim on the seat stands forfeited automatically and the seat is released for fresh allotment. No โ€” in the auto-freeze and freeze cases you are also out of the subsequent rounds.

Official source: Government of Maharashtra, State Common Entrance Test Cell, Information Brochure for Admission to Under Graduate and Post Graduate Technical Courses (2026-27), dated 2 July 2026 โ€” section on Conduct of CAP Round-I.

The trap, stated plainly: putting PICT Computer Engineering at preference 1 is not a preference, it is a decision. If CAP allots it, the seat auto-freezes and your counselling is over โ€” no Round II, no betterment, regardless of what else might have opened up. That is the correct choice if PICT CE is genuinely where you want to be. It is the wrong choice if you were listing it optimistically while hoping to compare offers later.

The second trap is quieter: forfeiture is automatic and requires no decision from you. Missing the ARC reporting window or failing to complete self-scrutiny releases the seat by default, and in the auto-freeze and freeze cases it removes you from the remaining rounds as well. Diarise the reporting deadline for the round you are in, from the CET Cell schedule, on the day the allotment is published.

Choice-filling checklist

In one line: A useful preference decision matches route, branch, historical cutoff, current fee and a realistic fallback.

Choice filling is where the whole decision gets committed, and it rewards doing the steps in order rather than starting from the branch you want. Work down the sequence below: establish which seat pool you are actually eligible for, then estimate probability against the right historical table, then confirm you can fund the route, and only then decide the order. Each step points at the table on this page that answers it.

Order the list by what you would actually accept, not by prestige. This matters more than it sounds, because of how CAP Round I resolves: if the system allots your first preference, that allotment is auto-freezed and your counselling ends there โ€” no Round II, no betterment. A preference list is therefore a ranked set of commitments, and anything you would hesitate to join should not sit above something you would happily join. The freeze and float rules spell out exactly what each outcome locks you into.

Build the fallback below PICT, not beside it. PICT's five programmes are all computing or electronics, so a list that contains only PICT branches has no real diversification โ€” a weak year across the institute moves every one of your options together. Pair it with at least one institute you would genuinely attend at a materially lower closing percentile, and check that its fee structure works for you before you list it, not after it is allotted. Our engineering admission hub lists the other institutes we cover, which is a reasonable place to start building that lower tier.

Two mechanical checks before you submit, both of which cost seats every year: confirm the institute code reads 06271 and that the full programme choice code matches the branch you intend, and confirm the seat type you have selected is one you hold valid documents for. An option form is editable until the round's deadline and final after it, so the last useful thing you can do is re-read it once, slowly, the day before the window closes.

Common mistakes that cost PICT applicants a seat

In one line: Most PICT losses are reading errors, not score errors: mixing CAP with institute-level percentiles, mixing MHT-CET with JEE values, or treating a seat-fee line as an all-inclusive total.

Almost every avoidable PICT loss traces back to reading the right number from the wrong table. The figures below are already published on this page; the mistake is pairing them incorrectly. Each row names the specific confusion and the table on this page that settles it.

Treating an institute-level percentile as a CAP cutoffFor Computer Engineering the 2025 institute-level closing percentile is 99.2156179, while the CAP Round I 2025 State-Level Open closing percentile is 99.7116474. None of these errors is a scoring problem, which is why they are worth checking twice. A candidate with a valid percentile can still lose a seat by filling the option form against the wrong row, and no counselling service โ€” including ours โ€” can reverse an option form once the round closes.

How PICT compares with COEP and VJTI

In one line: On the same CAP Round I 2025 list, State-Level Open closed at 99.9522882 for VJTI Computer Engineering, 99.8985029 for COEP CSE and 99.7116474 for PICT Computer Engineering.

The three institutes Maharashtra candidates most often weigh against each other are PICT, COEP Technological University and VJTI Mumbai. Comparing them from marketing pages is unreliable, so the table below takes every figure from a single document โ€” the State CET Cell's own CAP Round I 2025 cut-off list โ€” where all three appear side by side on the same merit basis.

What the merit numbers actually say. On the same list and the same seat pool, VJTI Computer Engineering closed at general merit number 103 and COEP CSE at 243, while PICT Computer Engineering closed at 791. In plain terms, PICT's computing seat was the most reachable of the three in that round โ€” a candidate outside the top few hundred of the state merit list had a realistic path to PICT that they did not have to the other two. That is a genuine argument for putting PICT on the list, not against it.

Where the axes genuinely diverge. The funding status printed beside each name is the single most useful line in the table, because it drives cost: PICT is Un-Aided, while VJTI is Government-Aided and COEP is a state university. We are not printing fee comparisons here โ€” we have verified PICT's fees against its own fee page and have not done the same for the other two, and an unverified fee comparison is worse than none. Check each institute's own fee page before treating cost as a deciding factor. The second real divergence is breadth: PICT lists five programmes and all of them are computing or electronics, so it is a specialist choice, while COEP and VJTI carry full-spectrum engineering including civil. If there is any chance you will want a core branch, that difference matters more than a few decimal places of percentile.

One caution on reading any of this forward: these are 2025 Round I closing values, and CAP closing scores move every year with the applicant pool and the seat matrix. They describe what happened in one round of one cycle, not what will happen in 2026.

Who should not choose PICT

In one line: PICT suits a computing-focused candidate who can fund the allotted route and arrange accommodation independently; it fits poorly for core-engineering aspirants and for anyone who needs guaranteed hostel accommodation.

This section exists because a page that only argues for a college is not much use during choice filling. The points below are drawn from the same official material used elsewhere on this page, and each one is a reason a genuinely well-matched candidate might still be better served somewhere else.

Candidate profiles that fit PICT poorly, and the published basis for each
If this describes youWhat the official material shows
You want a core engineering branch โ€” mechanical, civil, chemical or electricalThe 2026-27 sanctioned intake covers five programmes only: Computer Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, and Electronics & Computer Engineering. No core branch is offered, so this is a fit question, not a quality question.
You need an assured hostel seat as a condition of joiningPublished capacity is 212 student places in the girls hostel and 152 in the boys hostel, against a sanctioned first-year intake of 780. The hostel page publishes capacity and charges, not an entitlement.
You are entering E&TC expecting the same recruitment volume as Computer EngineeringE&TC and Computer Engineering carry the same sanctioned intake of 240. On the 2025-26 dashboard, which is labelled ongoing, the displayed selections are 267 for Computer Engineering, 201 for Information Technology and 140 for E&TC. The cycle has not closed, so treat this as a live gap to ask about at reporting, not a final result.
The institute-level or NRI route would stretch the family budgetOpen tuition plus development is โ‚น1,23,000, while the institute-level and NRI seat-fee line is โ‚น2,00,000 and the international-category page totals โ‚น2,12,570. Hostel adds โ‚น1,15,000 to โ‚น1,25,000 plus a โ‚น15,000 refundable deposit. Ask for the written demand before committing.
Your percentile sits below the published institute-level band and you have no fallbackThe lowest 2025 institute-level closing percentile shown is 97.5051096 for E&TC, with Computer Engineering at 99.2156179. No 2026 closing figure exists until the relevant round closes, so these are historical references โ€” but a preference list built only around PICT, with no realistic second option, carries avoidable risk.

Official sources: PICT first-year B.Tech admission notice for academic year 2026-27 dated 4 May 2026; PICT UG fee structure page (pict.edu/FRA_fee_structure), captured 2 August 2026 โ€” the page states that tuition and development fees are subject to revision pending the Review Application before the Fees Regulatory Authority; PICT official hostel page; PICT institute-level cutoff page; PICT placement dashboard (pict.edu/placement) for 2025-26, captured 2 August 2026 and labelled ongoing.

None of this argues against PICT for the candidate it suits, and the completed 2023-24 report โ€” โ‚น12.5 LPA overall average, โ‚น14.5 LPA for Computer Engineering and 93.15% shown placed โ€” is a strong record for a computing-focused institute. The point is narrower: the published intake covers computing and electronics only, hostel capacity is finite and stated, and the route allotted decides what is actually payable. A candidate who has checked those three things against their own situation is choosing PICT for the right reasons.

Check affordability before choice filling

Admission route, eligibility and preference order come first. As one decision checkpoint, enter the loan you may need to see the EMI and total interest before locking a college in your counselling choices.

CALCULATORWhat will this loan actually cost you?
Monthly EMIโ‚น16,344
Total interestโ‚น3,72,894
Total repaidโ‚น13,72,894
Take-home needed (EMI โ‰ค 40%)โ‚น40,860/mo

Standard reducing-balance arithmetic on the numbers you enter โ€” your actual rate and moratorium terms depend on the lender. The 40% ceiling is this site's own ROI rule: an EMI above 40% of take-home leaves nothing for rent, food or savings.

Documents checklist (CAP reporting)

Missing a single original can cost the seat at reporting. The definitive list each cycle is the annexure of the State CET Cell's own Information Brochure โ€” confirm there before you travel. The standard set:

  • MHT-CET / JEE Main scorecard (whichever route you are admitted through)
  • SSC (10th) and HSC (12th) marksheets โ€” originals plus photocopies
  • School / College Leaving Certificate
  • Maharashtra Domicile Certificate (for state-quota seats)
  • Nationality Certificate, or valid Indian passport, or birth certificate stating nationality
  • Aadhaar card
  • Caste Certificate + Caste Validity Certificate (reserved categories)
  • Non-Creamy Layer Certificate valid for the current financial year (OBC / SBC / VJNT)
  • EWS Eligibility Certificate (if claiming the EWS quota)
  • Income Certificate (needed for TFWS and most scholarships)
  • Gap Certificate (if there is a gap year after HSC)
  • CAP allotment letter and seat-acceptance receipt (at reporting)
  • Passport-size photographs

Frequently asked questions

What are the PICT Pune B.Tech admission routes for 2026-27?

PICT lists Maharashtra CAP, All-India CAP, institute-level, NRI, OCI/FN and CIWGC routes in its current first-year notice. Each route has its own eligibility, seat pool, merit basis and fee column. Start with the State CET Cell schedule and then use only the matching PICT application or reporting notice.

What is the PICT Pune institute code and why does the full choice code matter?

PICT uses institute code 06271. The option form uses a longer programme choice code, such as the code assigned to Computer Engineering or Information Technology. Match both the institute name and full programme code before locking choices because selecting the right college with the wrong branch code changes the allotment preference.

Is PICT institute-level admission the same as CAP admission?

No. CAP seats are allotted through the State CET Cell rounds, while institute-level seats follow PICT's published application, merit and vacancy process under the applicable rules. Their cutoffs and fee references are reported separately, so a CAP cutoff should not be presented as an institute-level closing score or vice versa.

What is the official PICT Pune B.Tech fee for 2026-27?

The supplied official pages show multiple route-specific figures. Open/FRA tuition plus development totals โ‚น1,23,000. The UG/FRA page separately displays a โ‚น2,00,000 management, NRI and Against-NRI seat-fee line, while the international-category page totals its combined Management/NRI/OCI/FN column at โ‚น2,12,570 after tuition, development, SPPU, examination, eligibility and caution-money heads. These figures describe different fee scopes; use the written demand for your allotted route before paying.

Is the PICT Pune 2026 cutoff available?

A final 2026 cutoff can exist only after the applicable counselling or institute-level round closes. The page therefore labels CAP Round I 2025 and institute-level 2025-26 as historical references. Do not relabel those values as a 2026 cutoff or guarantee that the new cycle will close at the same percentile.

Should I use PICT 2025-26 ongoing placement figures to judge outcomes?

Use them only as a live status indicator. The official dashboard marks 2025-26 ongoing: the visible branch slices and trend chart show 608 placements, the headline card shows 610, and a separate chart displays 80.66%. The supplied view does not state the denominator or calculation method for that percentage, so this page preserves each label instead of forcing them into one derived total. For a stable comparison, use the completed 2023-24 report.

Does PICT Pune guarantee hostel accommodation?

The official hostel page publishes room capacity, double-occupancy counts and charges, but a published capacity is not an allotment guarantee. Confirm whether a seat is available for your entering batch, which room type applies, when the deposit is due and what the cancellation terms are before building hostel cost into the admission decision.

Can a consultant or outside agent guarantee PICT Pune admission?

No. PICT's own admission notice advises students and parents not to approach an outside person or agency for admission. A counsellor may explain eligibility, documents and preference strategy, but cannot override merit, create a seat or replace the official allotment, institute merit list, fee demand and receipt.

Extended admission FAQs

How are PICT Pune seats divided for 2026-27?

The official notice divides each programme across Maharashtra State CAP, All-India CAP, institute-level other-than-NRI, NRI, OCI/FN and CIWGC columns. The exact counts vary with programme intake. Use the complete seat matrix on this page instead of converting a percentage into seats yourself.

Which merit is used for PICT All-India CAP seats?

The supplied CAP Round I All-India PDF reports JEE Main score together with an All-India merit number for PICT programme rows. This is separate from the Maharashtra State MHT-CET percentile column, so compare your result only with the correct merit route and seat type.

What does the PICT institute-level cutoff table represent?

PICT labels the published institute-level figures as MHT-CET percentiles for the institute-level route. They are branch-wise historical closing references for the listed academic years. They do not describe CAP category cutoffs, and they do not promise a seat in the next vacancy or institute-level process.

How should NRI, OCI, FN and CIWGC candidates read PICT fees?

First match the exact admission category and eligibility documents, then read the same category column in the current PICT fee table. The supplied international page lists separate CIWGC and Management/NRI/OCI/FN totals and components. Do not substitute the Open/FRA total or assume every international route has the same eligibility fee.

Which documents should I prepare for PICT CAP reporting?

Use the current CET Cell brochure and reporting notice. The standard set includes exam scorecard, Class 10 and 12 records, leaving certificate, identity and nationality proof, allotment and payment receipts, plus domicile, category, validity, NCL, EWS, income, gap, migration or international-route documents where applicable.

How do I verify a PICT fee payment or refund rule?

Use the official route-specific demand, institute bank details and current cancellation schedule. Keep the transaction proof and an institute acknowledgement. Do not transfer money to a personal account, and do not rely on a verbal or WhatsApp refund assurance when the published rule or written receipt says something different.

How should I place PICT branches in my preference order?

Order only branches you are willing to join. Compare your correct route and category with the historical branch cutoff, then check the curriculum, current fee, travel or hostel plan and fallback colleges. Never place a branch higher solely because an agent says internal branch change will be easy later.

What happens when two official PICT figures conflict?

Keep both visible, identify their labels and dates, and prefer the newest completed document for a final outcome. For an ongoing dashboard, explain the discrepancy rather than silently choosing a convenient number. Before payment or option locking, confirm the current figure directly from PICT or the competent counselling authority.

Is PICT Pune a government or a private college?

PICT is a private, un-aided autonomous institute โ€” not a government college. The Maharashtra State CET Cell prints each institute's funding status directly on its CAP cut-off list, and for institute code 06271 that status reads "Un-Aided Autonomous" (CAP Round I, 2025-26). For contrast on the same document, VJTI Mumbai is printed as "Government-Aided Autonomous" and COEP Technological University as "University Autonomous". PICT is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University and approved by AICTE, but it receives no government aid, which is also why its fees sit above the aided and university institutes.

Is PICT autonomous?

Yes. The State CET Cell CAP Round I 2025-26 cut-off list prints PICT (institute code 06271) as "Un-Aided Autonomous", with Home University shown as "Autonomous Institute". One practical consequence for counselling: because it is autonomous, PICT's CAP cutoffs appear under State Level rows only โ€” there is no Home University versus Other-Than-Home split to compare, unlike a non-autonomous affiliated college.

Does PICT Pune have a management quota?

PICT publishes institute-level seats separately from CAP seats, and these are what the phrase "management quota" usually refers to. Its 2026-27 first-year notice shows 117 institute-level seats other than NRI and 39 NRI seats across the five programmes, and the 2025-26 State CET Cell seat matrix showed 48 institute seats for Computer Engineering and 36 for Information Technology. PICT's own fee page lists a Management Seat Fee of โ‚น2,00,000 and an NRI Seat Fee of โ‚น2,00,000. Apply only through PICT's official institute-level application, merit list and vacancy notice โ€” the institute's notice expressly warns against approaching an outside person or agency, and no one can allot an institute-level seat outside that published process.

Does PICT Pune have mechanical or civil engineering?

No. The 2026-27 sanctioned intake covers five programmes only: Computer Engineering (240 seats), Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (240), Information Technology (180), Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (60) and Electronics & Computer Engineering (60). There is no mechanical, civil, electrical or chemical engineering at PICT. If a core branch is on your list, PICT cannot serve it and a full-spectrum institute is the better fit.

Can I get PICT at 95 or 96 percentile in MHT-CET?

On the 2025 references, no branch closed that low. PICT's institute-level MHT-CET closing percentiles for 2025 ranged from 97.5051096 for E&TC up to 99.2156179 for Computer Engineering, and CAP Round I 2025 State-Level Open closed between 99.2992853 (E&TC) and 99.7116474 (Computer Engineering). A 95-96 percentile sits below both bands across every programme. The honest caveat: these are historical references, and the 2026 closing values will not exist until the relevant round actually closes โ€” cutoffs move with the applicant pool and the seat matrix each year. Treat them as a realistic guide for building a preference list with genuine fallbacks, not as a prediction.
