MSRIT Bangalore Admission 2026: Cutoff, Fees & Placements

Ramaiah Institute of Technology — still searched by most students as MSRIT or MS Ramaiah — is a private engineering institute in Bengaluru, established in 1962 by Dr. M. S. Ramaiah (MSRIT official About page). It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, and VTU granted it autonomous status for both UG and PG programmes in 2007, a status the institute states was also approved by UGC (MSRIT official About page). Autonomy matters in practice: MSRIT frames its own syllabus and conducts its own examinations, while the degree itself is awarded under VTU.

On validation you can independently check: MSRIT is ranked 75 in the NIRF 2025 Engineering rankings with a score of 49.26 (nirfindia.org, 2025 Engineering list), and its own site states a NAAC A+ grade with a score of 3.28 and NBA accreditation for its academic departments (MSRIT official site, 2026). None of those are our assessments — each is a named ranking or accreditation verifiable on the issuing body's portal, which is exactly how a claim about a college should behave.

The campus sits in MSR Nagar, MSRIT Post, Bengaluru 560 054, within the wider Ramaiah group's institutional cluster. The official admissions page lists 17 B.E. programmes: the classic cores (Mechanical, Civil, EEE, ECE, Chemical, Industrial Engineering and Management) alongside a large computing cluster — CSE, ISE, AI and Machine Learning, AI and Data Science, CSE (Cyber Security) and Medical Electronics among them (MSRIT admissions page, 2026).

MSRIT's admissions page names two entrance routes for B.E.: KEA and COMEDK (MSRIT admissions page, 2026). In practice, a seat here is allotted one of three ways:

• KCET via KEA — the Karnataka Examinations Authority allots the CET-quota seats through its round-wise online counselling: rank declaration, option entry, seat allotment, fee payment, reporting. This is the low-fee route, and eligibility for these seats follows Karnataka's domicile-linked rules on KEA's portal.
• COMEDK UGET — the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka runs a single-window online counselling across roughly 150 member institutions: choice filling, round-wise allotment, fee payment, then physical reporting at the college. For the 2026 cycle, Round 1 allotment was scheduled for 28 July with fee payment by 31 July and college reporting through early August (comedk.org, 2026 counselling notices).
• Management and Foreign/PIO/NRI categories — handled by the institute's admission section directly, with their own fee structure (MSRIT admissions page and fee PDF, AY2026-27).

Academic eligibility, from the official page: 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics compulsory plus one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science or Electronics, with 45% aggregate for General category and 40% for SC/ST, Category-1 and OBC (MSRIT admissions page, 2026). The decision that actually shapes your cost is which authority allots you the seat — the next section shows why in rupees.

MSRIT publishes its first-year fee structure as a signed PDF on the admissions page, and the AY2026-27 version is already live. These are first-year totals for the 2026 intake — not annual constants, and not four-year figures. Higher-semester fees are published as a separate PDF each year on msrit.edu.

In one line: a KEA-allotted B.E. seat costs ₹1,40,820 in year one while the same seat through COMEDK or management costs ₹3,54,820 — about 2.5 times more (all figures AY2026-27, MSRIT official 1st Year Fees Structure PDF, msrit.edu). The same document lists B.Arch at ₹1,42,570 (CET, Karnataka) and ₹3,56,570 (COMEDK/Management, Karnataka). NRI-quota tuition is collected in dollars and the full schedule sits with the admission section (admn@msrit.edu) — do not trust aggregator estimates for it. A workable KCET rank is therefore worth several lakhs over the degree; that arithmetic should drive how seriously you treat KEA option entry.

We would rather show you the marker than a number laundered from an aggregator. Here is where the genuine ones are published:

• COMEDK publishes round-wise cutoff ranks as downloadable PDFs on comedk.org after each round, including the previous year's engineering cutoffs (comedk.org, 2026).
• KEA publishes KCET college-wise, branch-wise, category-wise cutoff matrices for each counselling round on its official portal after every allotment.

How to read them without fooling yourself: compare like with like — Round 1 against Round 1, your exact category against that column, the same branch code across years. A closing rank from a later or extended round is usually softer than Round 1 and tells you little about next year's Round 1. Expect the computing cluster (CSE, ISE, AI-linked branches) to close at far more competitive ranks than the core branches at almost any established Bengaluru college; MSRIT follows that citywide pattern. And treat a single year's cutoff as weather, not climate — intake changes (MSRIT's sanctioned UG intake rose from 1,260 to 1,401 between 2022-23 and 2023-24 per its NIRF 2025 submission) can move closing ranks without the college getting easier or harder in any real sense.

The most reliable placement numbers for MSRIT are the ones it files with the Government of India's NIRF — audited by nobody's marketing department. From the institute's NIRF 2025 submission (IR-E-C-1331, nirfindia.org), for the UG four-year programme:

In one line: the NIRF median salary was ₹7.5 lakh for the 2023-24 batch, with 787 of 1,075 on-time graduates placed and 195 opting for higher studies (NIRF 2025, MSRIT submission). Read it honestly: the median dipped from ₹8 lakh the previous year, and placed-plus-higher-studies covers most but not all of the batch. What is NOT verifiable: average package, highest package, and branch-wise medians — MSRIT's public pages reference placements but we found no official branch-wise statistics document, so those stay [FIGURE MISSING] here. The NIRF median is an all-branches figure; computing branches typically sit above such a median and core branches below it, so ask the placement cell for branch-level data in writing before you decide on a branch you are borrowing money for.

MSRIT runs on-campus hostels for its own students only — accommodation is limited to bonafide RIT students, and first-years are housed in a dedicated Freshers Block with additional security staff (MSRIT official hostel page). Named blocks include Aryabhata and Ratan Tata. Rooms are single or double occupancy with attached or common bathrooms and hot water; each room comes with a cot, chair, almirah and reading table.

The mess is vegetarian, with a menu of north and south Indian items set by a student Mess Committee, and fixed service timings; a night canteen serves light refreshments until 11 PM. A health centre operates with a senior doctor available for consultation Monday to Saturday evenings, medicines supplied free, and emergency cases referred to Ramaiah Hospital. Wi-Fi is free, CCTV covers all blocks, and guest rooms exist for visiting parents (MSRIT official hostel page, 2026).

The rules worth knowing before you commit: the full year's hostel fee is payable at admission, cooking in rooms is prohibited, alcohol, smoking and non-vegetarian food are banned, and the refund ladder is 100% before occupancy, 75% within one month, 50% within two months, and deposit-only after that (MSRIT official hostel page). The actual hostel fee amount is not published on that page — [FIGURE MISSING — AY2026-27] — so get the current figure in writing from the hostel office before you budget, not from an aggregator.

An honest fit-check, because a wrong admission costs more than a lost year:

• If you have no KEA allotment and a tight budget. The COMEDK/management first-year total of ₹3,54,820 (AY2026-27, MSRIT official fee PDF) is roughly 2.5 times the CET-quota figure, before Bengaluru hostel and living costs. If that number only works with a maximum-size education loan serviced from an assumed high package, the risk is yours, not the college's.
• If you are a non-Karnataka student counting on the low-fee route. CET-quota pricing applies only if KEA allots you the seat, and KEA seats follow Karnataka's domicile-linked eligibility rules — verify your eligibility on KEA's portal before you build a plan around ₹1.4 lakh a year.
• If your goal is core-engineering research with IIT/NIT-grade labs, funding and brand pull. MSRIT is a strong VTU-system autonomous college, but it does not claim that tier, and neither should you on its behalf.
• If you need audited branch-wise placement data before committing. Only the all-branch NIRF median is independently verifiable; if your decision hinges on a specific branch's outcomes, the burden of proof sits with documents the placement cell gives you in writing.
• If you will not engage with the counselling calendar. Both KEA and COMEDK run unforgiving round-wise schedules; missing a fee-payment window can void an allotment regardless of rank.

Compared by decision axis, not by a fabricated score:

• Exam route. MSRIT fills seats through KCET (KEA) and COMEDK UGET. COEP Pune, VJTI Mumbai, PICT Pune, SPIT Mumbai and VIT Pune all sit in Maharashtra's MHT-CET/CAP universe. If you hold a strong MHT-CET rank but no KCET or COMEDK rank, the Pune-Mumbai set is your real market, not Bengaluru — and vice versa.
• Fee logic. COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai are state institutions whose fee structures run well below private-college levels, while MSRIT, PICT Pune, SPIT Mumbai and VIT Pune are private and priced accordingly. Within MSRIT itself the quota decides the price: a KEA allotment costs a fraction of a COMEDK or management seat for the same classroom (AY2026-27, MSRIT official fee PDF).
• City and internship ecosystem. Bengaluru's software and startup market is the largest in the country, and MSRIT students live inside it. PICT Pune and SPIT Mumbai offer a comparable computing-placement culture in their own metros; COEP and VJTI add the weight of century-old state-institute brands.
• Autonomy and scale. MSRIT has been autonomous under VTU since 2007 (MSRIT official About page) with a sanctioned UG intake of 1,401 (2023-24, NIRF 2025 submission) — bigger than PICT or SPIT, which means more seats in counselling but also larger batches competing for the same campus drives.

If you are choosing between these, decide the city and the exam first; the college list follows from that, not the other way around.
